The Sims 4 has added a host of inclusive upgrades in its latest update, including hearing aids, over-the-top surgical scars, and shapewear.
One of the best-selling video games of all time, The Sims allows players to recreate the lives of virtual people living in the suburbs. It was first released in 2000.
The ever-changing and evolving game now allows players to create disabled and transgender characters, as well as choose from new outfits including chest straps.
When creating a Sim, players can now choose from medical wearables, including hearing aids in 15 different colors, which any character (including young children) can wear in one or both ears.
Blood Glucose Monitors are also available for Child Sims, and can be mounted on the arm or belly.
Representing transgender characters, teens and older male Sims can add top-tier surgery scars to their characters. Top surgery scar is the horizontal line of scar tissue left after top surgery in women to men.
Teen and older Sims can also choose breast-flattening binders and bottom shapewear for their characters.
Trans and disabled fans were quick to praise the game for its inclusivity, with Simmer T_Sizzler writing: “Finally able to give our trans and non-binary Sims top-notch surgical scars. I love the realism. @TheSims, you No idea how many people you’ve just been able to see yourself helping in this game. Imagine all the trans kids seeing this updated wardrobe.”
Deaf player @LuddySimmer wrote: “Never thought I’d be able to represent myself in The Sims one day, but I’m glad it’s here.”
While @Parkingjm wrote: “I really want to cry over a Sims update that includes a blood glucose monitor, as I do.”
The latest update, released on January 31st, introduced new options as well as console and navigation improvements as well as some bug fixes.
In 2016, players had the option to add male and female traits, regardless of gender.

Starting last year, players can choose their Sims’ sexual orientation and pronouns.
The Sims has been free to play since late last year.
