YouTube is investigating a new email scam that has resulted in users receiving messages from accounts that appear to be genuine.
this GoogleThe owned company is warning people to be careful after reports of a phishing campaign claiming to share details of a “new monetization policy” and “new rules”.
Monetization is something that lets creators make money from their creations youtube Video, mostly through advertising.
These emails are sent from the no-reply@youtube.com address, telling recipients to click on a link for more information.
They were warned that if they did not review the changes within 7 days, their accounts would be limited.
YouTube said its team is investigating.
“We have seen reports of phishing attempts from no-reply@youtube.com,” it tweeted.
“If you receive this email, please exercise caution and do not download/access any files.”
How to Spot Dodgy Emails
Phishing emails and text messages are a favorite tactic used by fraudsters and are increasingly convincing.
They lure you in by looking very legitimate, using recognizable branding, etc., and then try to steal personal information such as passwords and payment details.
They’re especially common when you’re likely to get a lot of specific messages – such as shopping deals from retailers around Black Friday, or during government campaigns.
One important thing to be aware of many times is the domain name of the sender email address – they are usually very close, but slightly different.
You should also watch out for typos and odd formatting.
If you’re at all unsure, it’s best to visit the site directly rather than click any link in the email.

There may have been a moment when you thought you were being lied to.
But there are steps you can take to limit the damage or prevent any damage from happening.

“Banks have very strong controls on fraud these days – that’s why it’s best to use credit cards whenever possible.
“If you think any of your online accounts have been compromised, change your passwords and try not to reuse them between different retailers.
“We do recognize that some of these have technical obstacles to them, but if nothing else, at least keep an eye on what’s going on and be vigilant about your online activity.”
