Valentine’s Day: Animal shelter offers chance to write ex’s name in cat’s litter box to reveal list | US News

An animal shelter is offering donors the chance to put their exes’ names in their bins, with a list of exes to be released on Valentine’s Day tomorrow.

Ohio animal The Friends Humane Society is offering a unique tribute with a $5 (£4.15) donation and the bin will be passed on to cat “Let them do what they do best,” according to their website.

Some 480 people jumped at the opportunity to come out with their exes, according to CNN.

To boost donations, an ad on the shelter’s website reads: “Did you have a crappy ex?

“Don’t spend this Valentine’s Day in the trash!

“Instead, lift yourself up while contributing to animals in need!”

The shelter, based in Hamilton, said it was accepting donations until the Sunday before the big day and would feature all the names received in a video post.

Meanwhile, the Animal Friends Humane Society, founded in 1952, provides a home for abandoned and abused animals and currently has about 22 cats available for adoption.

Its website says its mission is to “advance humane principles, protect lost, homeless, abandoned and abused animals, and serve as animal advocates in our communities.”

The shelter’s campaign is one of many anti-Valentines, with the San Antonio Zoo offering people the chance to name a cockroach after an ex and watch it be fed to an animal — all for a small donation.
