It’s that time again – Nintendo, the famous 134-year-old card game company, is back in the well selling more Switches, and this time, it’s The Legend of Zelda: Tears of Kingdoms Edition Nintendo Switch OLED Eager to See You in hand and entertainment center.
This special edition Nintendo Switch OLED features a unique art design on the Joy-Cons and dock inspired by the upcoming highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Pre-orders for the $360 handheld have just started, and as usual, that means themed designs for the Joy-Cons and dock, as well as a cool textured pattern on the back that, in this case, looks like a Zen garden rake. It’s currently marked as non-shippable, so you may want to plan to pick it up in person.
Expect inconsistent inventory for the first run — Best Buy has text on that page indicating it’s in high demand and may sell out quickly. GameStop also has a store page as of this writing, but it hasn’t started taking orders yet.
That doesn’t mean Nintendo won’t be churning out more in the coming weeks and months—after all, its best special edition, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Special Edition Switch, sold out a few times during the sale. It was still available for a long time after it was sold out months before it was released. However, you’ll need to act fast if you wish to add this nifty new release to your collection. One thing to note: Like most Switch special editions, this themed console doesn’t actually include a copy of the game.
In addition to the new Zelda Switch OLED, Nintendo has also released a Tear of Kingdom-themed Nintendo Switch Pro Controller ($75) and carrying case ($25) for all Triforce players, both of which will work with the new Breath of Wild’s sequel, out May 12. The console itself was a few weeks ago on April 28th.
Kingdom Tears, Players will once again take control of Hyrule’s legendary hero, Link, battling evil forces in a fictional kingdom version featuring the same cell-shaded look as Breath of the Wild and including a new “recall” ability that expands the game’s playground to various floating islands, Nintendo Called “Island in the Sky”, it allows Link to ride a large rock that falls from the island back to his origin above. If you haven’t seen it, Nintendo released a ten-minute gameplay video today that shows Link several new abilities to manipulate the world around him to create new tools, structures, and weapons.
The game will be the first $70 Nintendo Switch exclusive, though right now, Nintendo Switch Online members can still pre-order it for less if they buy a pair of Nintendo Game Vouchers for $100, so you can Use each coupon to pick specific games to add to the Game Voucher catalog. That effectively makes the game $50 if you pick one of most of the company’s first-party titles or the pricier third-party titles.
