Teen missing for over a year found alive in closet | US News

A 14-year-old girl who was reported missing in 2021 was found pregnant in the closet of a Michigan home.

The U.S. Marshals’ fugitive team located the teen in a distraught state in Port Huron, Mich., around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Deputy Marshal Robert Watson said.

“She was upset, she was crying, she was terrified,” he added.

“She wasn’t sure what was going to happen to her.”

Authorities were able to track down the girl after receiving word of a house search.

Mr Watson said she was later taken to hospital for a health check and found she was pregnant.

Child Protective Services told Mr Watson on Thursday that her father was “extremely relieved” to have found the teenager.

“He’s been dealing with this nightmare for a year and a half. He’s in a much better place now,” Mr Watson said.

Officials told the Detroit Free Press they are filing parental kidnapping charges against the girl’s mother, who is the teen’s guardian.
