KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — A mosque at a government building in Kabul exploded Wednesday as workers and tourists prayed, a Taliban official said.

The blast in the afternoon took place inside the mosque of the Interior Ministry, which is responsible for security and law enforcement in the country.

Abdul Nafi Takor, a Taliban-appointed interior ministry spokesman, tweeted: “Unfortunately, there was an explosion inside an attached mosque, and some interior ministry staff and tourists were Pray there. Details will be shared later.”

He did not say whether the mosque was inside the ministry or nearby, and there was no immediate information on casualties.
