Jennifer Aniston has paid tribute to her actor father John, calling him “one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever known”, who died at the age of 89.

John Aniston is an Emmy winner of the daytime soap opera “Our Days” and a U.S. Navy veteran.

In a touching tribute on Instagram, his daughter, friend star Jennifer wrote: “Dear Dad…John Anthony Aniston. You are one of the most beautiful people I have ever known.

“I’m grateful you soared peacefully in heaven – no pain. On November 11 [Armistice Day and US Veterans’ Day] Quite a lot! You always have perfect timing.

“That number will always mean more to me now.”

John Aniston, whose real name was Yannis Anastassakis, was born in Crete, Greece, and moved to Pennsylvania with his family as a child.

He is best known for his role as Victor Kyriakis in Days of Our Lives, but his credits also include Finding Tomorrow, The West Wing and Gilmore Girls.
