Buffalo, NY (WIVB) — The Buffalo Museum of Science celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month on Sunday.
The Hispanic Heritage Committee goes all out with cooking demonstrations to create classic Spanish cuisine. For those who want to get moving, there are also salsa lessons. It’s also a way to raise money for a $10 million center for the Hispanic Heritage Cultural Institute.
“In creating the Hispanic Heritage Institute, it’s something you’ve never seen in Western New York. So providing a place where people can feel the heritage and other people can learn about it is the most important thing you can do One of the things, is teaching history, teaching people about people, and what better reason is by showing cooking those flavors, those smells, by dancing,” said Maritza Vega, vice president of the Hispanic Heritage Committee.
The Hispanic Heritage Cultural Institute is expected to open within two years. For more information, click here.
