A mysterious flash of light has lit up the skies over Kiev, sparking panic, confusion and speculation about what might have caused it.
Four short videos posted by journalist and blogger Anatolii Sharii on the Telegram channel show the sky Ukraine The capital suddenly brightened.
Sergiy Popko, head of the city’s military administration, described it as a “bright light” on the messaging app.
He said the air raid siren was activated but “the air defense system was not activated”.
In one clip, a flaming object appears to plummet to the ground.

Austria’s ambassador to Kiev posted a video and joked on Twitter that it was an alien spacecraft.
