Donald Trump will resume his status on Twitter after online votes for his return, the platform’s new owner Elon Musk said.
But after hearing the news, the former US president said he had no interest in rejoining.
Mr Musk released a poll asking users to vote on whether Mr Trump, who was banned from the social media site by his previous owner, should be reinstated.
Turns out, after more than 15 million votes cast, he should.
But the former president said: “I don’t see any reason to do that.”
He said he would stick with his new social media platform, Truth Social.
When releasing the poll, Mr. Musk attached the words: “Vox Populi, Vox Dei” – a Latin phrase that means “the voice of the people is the voice of God”.
Mr Trump is permanently suspended Twitter In January 2021, after his supporters us capitol building resulting in several deaths.
Twitter said the decision was made “due to the risk of further incitement to violence” following the unrest.

The vote for restitution was close — 51.8 percent in favor and 48.2 percent against.

Meanwhile, an estimated hundreds of Twitter employees decided to leave the company after Musk announced that employees agreed to longer, more intense work patterns or resigned.

The exodus added to the rapid change and chaos of Mr. Musk’s first three weeks as Twitter owner, during which time the company’s workforce has more than halved to about 3,700 in layoffs and other departures.
