Mike Pence: Former vice president’s team denies he has filed to run for president in 2024 | US News

A document filed with the Federal Election Commission appears to indicate that Mike Pence will run for president of the United States in 2024.

But Mr. Pence’s spokesman, Devin O’Malley, said the former vice president hadn’t submitted.

A second source on his team told NBC News “it’s not true.”

A filing on the FEC website appeared to announce that Mr. Pence had filed his candidacy statement. However, the FEC form does not appear to reflect his actual legal name – Michael Richard Pence.

The form instead lists Mike Richard Pence.

The former vice president has said for months that he will make a decision on his candidacy in the new year after consulting with his family.

It is unclear who is responsible for FEC filings.

Mr. Pence drew the ire of Donald Trump after he refused to back his call to overturn the results of the 2020 election, and the former vice president has distanced himself from Trump since his defeat in that election.

Only 7% of primary voters plan to support Mr. Pence if he does choose to run, according to a RealClearPolitics polling average.

Mr. Trump is president from 2017 to 2021, has announced he will run for a second term.

Trump’s former national security adviser said earlier this month that he was “absolutely” considering a run for president, and there has been speculation that Ron DeSantis recently served a second term as governor of floridaWill throw his hat into the ring too.
