The suspect has been identified as Chunli Chao, according to San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Copps.
San Mateo County Board of Supervisors Chairman Dave Pine provided CNN with the spelling of the suspect’s name.
“A sheriff’s deputy found Zhao in his vehicle in the parking lot of the Sheriff’s Office’s Half Moon Bay Police Station. Zhao was taken into security custody and a weapon was found inside his vehicle. Zhao is believed to have acted alone,” according to the Press release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Zhao is currently in the custody of the San Mateo County Sheriff.
It is unclear when he will appear in court.
