Man dies in motorcycle accident on Buffalo National River

Jasper, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — At about 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2, an Oklahoma man died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Highway 7 near Pruitt.

According to a National Park Service press release, Clifton J. Caughron, 71, of Yukon City, Oklahoma, was traveling north on Highway 7 before appearing to cross crossed the centerline and hit a trailer that was being towed by southbound traffic. Caughron suffered multiple injuries and was provided on-site care by responding National Park Service rangers and Newton County representatives.

He was taken to North Arkansas Regional Medical Center for further treatment and was later pronounced dead. The National Park Service recommends driving with caution, obeying the speed limit, and slowing down on sharp turns.

At least eight people have been killed or seriously injured in motorcycle accidents in the area so far this year.
