Liberal Arts alumna creates business to share her love of travel

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA — Penn State alumni Imani Murray has traveled to 14 countries, and as her brand continues to grow, she doesn’t stop there.

The 2022 China and Materials Science and Engineering graduate works as an online influencer and travel consultant under her company, ImaniK Travels, LLC. Her mission is to educate and inspire young travelers to see the world.

Since starting his business last year, Murray has found support and inspiration from events such as his involvement in the Faculty of Arts and LaunchBox’s Summer Founders Program in Happy Valley.

Despite having a strong interest in Chinese from an early age, Murray entered Penn State solely to pursue an engineering degree.

After taking some engineering courses, Murray returned to his love of Chinese in the Faculty of Arts. It was this reconnection with the Chinese language that ultimately prompted her to share her travels, Murray said.

“As I continue to learn about people’s experiences and people’s fears about starting my consulting business, it really motivates me so that I can alleviate the fears people experience when they start traveling,” she said.
