You have a brilliant idea for a solid research experience for honours students looking for a dissertation topic – but need nationwide data so your students can crunch the numbers. Or maybe a very small (and very expensive) lens will support a new undergraduate investigation in your lab. The Honors College can help.

U or A faculty are encouraged to apply for Faculty Equipment and Technology Grants.

These grants are designed to help clinical, tenured, and tenured faculty members purchase specialized equipment or technology to advance undergraduate research at U.S. universities. Grants will be awarded every fiscal year; this year’s application deadline is September. 30. Starting this year, applications up to $7,500 will be considered.

The Honors College introduced new faculty equipment and technology grants in 2016 and has awarded more than $475,000 to date. Faculty and staff have used the grants to purchase materials ranging from world-class cutting-edge oil datasets to machines that can be used to develop new technologies for counterfeit detection in jewelry, clothing, art, pharmaceuticals, and more.

Grant funding of up to $80,000 will be available this year.

For details on how to apply, visit the Honors College Faculty Resources page of the Honors College Shared Point website. When visiting this site, you may be prompted to log in with your UART credentials. Please submit your application here.

The grant was funded as part of a $300 million donation made in 2002 by the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation. These grants are designed to help tenured faculty members or in teams purchase specialized equipment or technology to make a transformational difference in their undergraduate research programs.
